We went to Shogun for Valentines day 2009, it was very busy and we had to wait an hour after our reservation to be seated, which is understandable for a holiday like Valentines, but after we were seated we waited another 2 hours, with only seeing a waitress twice, she took our order then returned another time to tell us our cook was fixing his cart(this is a hibachi place were they cook in front of you)....it took forever, i had to go to the bar myself to get a drink because no waitress was in sight, then after our cook finally appeared the show was fun and he made it that way by flipping his knives all around which was fun, we had ordered more expensive dinners, my husband ordered a seafood platter which said to have prawns...which he never got! and i had steak and lobster, kind of small portions for the price, you get more rice and veggies then anything .so we ate and went on our merry way, it was fair in taste, we may return again to see if we have a better expereance when its less busy!

This place is OK, they need to update the decor & furniture. A little pricy for what you get and they charge for every refill on sodas, without telling you ahead of time (Imagine my surprise!!) There's a new Tepanyaki on Maple that's nicer and around the same price.

This restaurant is WAY WAY overpriced. The quality of the food is extremely poor and the soup, salad, rice and vegatables were practically inedible. My steak was actually good but so not worth the price. They charge $2.50 extra for their fried rice which tasted cheap and nothing like Japanese rice and the chef burned the eggs so I wasn't able to actually eat it. I have eaten at many hibachi style Japanese restaurants and the quality has always been amazing and the prices much much lower. The service is extremely bad, very inattentive and slow. The manager was very hostile and completely uninterested with the customer's satisfaction. I do not recommend this restaurant for anyone and I will never return.

Being Asian and having eaten Japanese food all over the world, I would NOT recommend SHOGUN to anyone. We had to wait 15 minutes before a waitress came and took drink orders, and the speed of the service only picked up when another party(of 5) came in and filled up the table we were at. Yes, you have to share a table with complete strangers and they try to tie you up until the table is full. The chef we had was really bad, he started the "show" and dropped the spatula every 3 seconds, obviously very unprofessional, and once it even flew out and almost knocked over the sauce bowls on the table. They charged an extra $2.50 if you wanted to have FRIED RICE instead of regular white rice, and it was sooooo extremely salty I could barely swallow it, the NON-JAPANESE chef obviously had no training on how much soy sauce to put in the food. Even the white steamed rice was disappointing because it wasn't authentic Japanese sticky rice, it was like Jasmine rice or some sort of cheap long grain rice. COME ON! It's a Japanese restaurant! the least they could do was have authentic sticky rice and not some cheap brand rice! The chicken and steak were ok, but still too much teriyaki sauce. the vegetables were even worse than the fried rice, swimming in soy sauce and just impossible to swallow, my sodium intake of the meal must have exceeded the daily recommended by 10000000%! So 2 hours, a billion grams of sodium, and $100 later, the best part of the meal was the green tea ice cream... which wasn't even that good but compared to everything else it had to be the best part of the meal. All in all, food was nasty, everything was EXTREMELY overpriced, and I will never go back there again. I would have rather gone to the food court at the Galleria Mall and gotten a Chicken Teriyaki with real steamed white rice for $6.

Excellent food and talented chefs. Great atmosphere too. A bit pricy, but worth the money.
