Buffalo and Erie County Botanical Gardens were constructed in the 1880s under the watchful eye of famed landscape architect Fredrick Law Olmsted, who was the main architect for both Central Park and Prospect Park. Today, visitors can walk through these historic indoor gardens and marvel at the beautiful Victorian Garden, a display that features tropical and sub-tropical plants arrayed in the classic Victorian style, and the Dinosaur Garden, where giant models of dinosaurs live amongst plants resembling their ancient habitat. The gardens are located in the Lackawanna area of the city, within the boundaries of South Park.
